James Ewell Brown Stuart is born in southwestern Virginia to Archibald Stuart and Elizabeth Pannill Stuart.

At age 14, Stuart attended school at Wytheville. He later attended Emory and Henry College

Stuart is promoted to first lieutenant.

- Stuard saw action against Indians and whites on frontier in Bleeding Kansas. -He was wounded in Cheynenne but quickly recovered.

-After hearing of Virginias secession Stuart resigned from the U.S. army to join the confederacy.
-He is promoted to colonel and led his regiment in the first battle of Bullrun. -

Stuart rides around McClellan's army and gathers infromation. He captures 160 pow's. He is also promoted to major general.

-Leads "Stonewall" Jacksons troops after Jackson is accidentaly shot.

-Stuart failed to detect the movements of the union calvary.
-In the days leading up to Gettysburg, Stuarts cavalry fell out of touch with Lee. Resulting in Lee having no information on the unfamiliar territory. Stuart arrived late on the second day of the battle and the next day he did not gain any ground. -
-Stuart tried to stop General Philip Sheridan raid on Richmond.
-The two armys meet at Yellow Tavern,
-Stuart is shot durring the battle. -
