  • Hunter Was Born

    Hunter was born following the flood of the Ohio river in 1937. His father had already married and had a child before him, but he was his mother's first.

  • A Crazy Child

    He would do pranks on his friends, and even on strangers in his neighborhood.
    He set fire to piles of leaves on the lawns of his neighbours. This was the start of his mischievous life. Soon later the FBI came to their house because of a destroyed mailbox but they could not get a confession from him
  • Hunter Starting his Writing

    Hunter joins a writing club at his high school with a few of his friends, discussing literary while drinking booze.
    The group would take turns writing a piece to present to the others and receive feedback.
  • Hunter Goes To Jail

    Hunter and two friends went to a vehicle with two couples in it, demanding money and eventually threatening rape.
    Hunter's two friends had powerful fathers so they got off but Hunter had to serve 60 days in jail.
  • Hunter Joins The Air force

    In late summer he arrives for the first roll call, while drunk. They make him an electronics technician which he absolutely hated.
    Hunter finds an opportunity to get a more interesting so he starts writing for the base's own newspaper in the sports section.
  • Hunter Leaves The Air Force

    Hunter is disliked by many people and his supervisors at the base so they decide together it would be best for him to leave.
    He hated the idea of being dishonourably discharged so he fights hard to be honourably discharged, which he is.
  • Hunter Gets His First Job in the Writing Industry

    After being unemployed for a short time, Hunter went through a few short jobs which he hated.
    He finally finds a job at The New York Times but not as a writer, as a copy boy
  • Hunter Writes his first novel

    Hunter was in the middle of moving around jobs with different papers while writing his first book 'Prince Jellyfish'.
    As he wrote it he sent sections to every publisher he could think of, and received just as many rejections.
    His girlfriend, Sandy, helped support him financially so he could keep writing while making not much money.
  • Hunter Gets Married

    Hunter and Sandy go to Indiana to get a quick marriage
    They move to Colorado with a friend and Hunter was sending pieces to the 'National Observer' Paper.
    Sandy gets pregnant
  • Hunter has a son

    Sandy has a baby boy, Juan Fitzgerald Thompson.
    Hunter says being a husband and a father is more of a burden than a joy at his current financial state.
  • Hunter with the Hell's Angels

    Hunter gets hired for the 'Nation' to do a story on the Hell's Angels, the first story that wasn't a biased police encounter.
    Hunter Hangs out with the 'angels' many nights, drinking and talking about many things Hunter could include in his story. Hunter was a little scared of the fact that they could kill him but he would take that risk.
  • Hunter's First published book

    Hunters story of the Hell's Angels turned into a full novel and ended up getting published in hard copy by Random House.
    The book got praised by The New York Times and other reputable papers.
    The first 20 000 copies were sold out fast and they had to keep up with printing the books
  • Hunter Runs for Sheriff

    Hunter then lived in a small town and decided it would be a good idea to run for sheriff for publicity and now he got more into politics.
    He lost the vote but not by much
