    John A. Macdonald did not have a 'boyhood' because when he was 14 years old he dropped out of school and went to work at 15. By the time he was 19 John already started his own law practice.

    John A. Macdonald
    John A. Macdonald married Isabella Clark in 1843, and in 1848 their first son died. Hugh John , their second son would serve briefly as premier of Manitoba in 1899-1900. Isabella was ill from marriage, and died in 1857. Ten years later Macdonald married Susan Agnes Bernard, during the London conference.

    John A. Macdonald was a prime minister twice. Once in 1867-1873 and than again in 1878-1891. He was the first prime minister of Canada. John A. Macdonald became the first prime minister of Canada because he worked hard to bring the first four provinces together.

    Susan was interested in John's political career, and often sat in the house of commons to watch him. <creepy>
    Whenever she accompanied him on his trips to British Columbia she sat in the cowcatcher (cowcatcher- A metal frame at the front of the train) so that she could enjoy the scenary better.
