    Attack on Pearl Harbor (December 7 1941)

    Japanese military forces caught U.S forces off guard with a surprise attack on the U.S's biggest naval base at the time, Pearl Harbor. This is what many believed to be the main reason for the U.S joining the war.
  • The Fall of The Phillippines (May 6 1942)

    Japanese troops successfully managed to take control of the Philippines over U.S. forces. This was a huge victory for the Empire of Japan.
  • The Doolittle Raid on Tokyo (April 18 1942)

    The Doolittle Raid on Tokyo was a surprise air raid performed on Tokyo, the capital of Japan, by U.S air forces. The air raid did little physical damage but prevented Japanese troops from being moved to the South Pacific.

    A war between the United States and Australia against the Japanese that was fought with both naval and air forces. This battle resulted in a Japanese victory yet the Allies walked away with their heads held high since this was one of the first times that a Japanese advance of such magnitude had been dragged out so long.

    Widely considered the biggest turning point in the war as U.S. naval forces successfully defended against Japanese naval forces. This put a huge dent in both Japanese forces and their moral.

    The Battle of Guadalcanal was a series of land and sea clashes between Allied and Japanese forces on and around Guadalcanal. This was yet another turning point in the war for the Allies.

    This term refers to a period where the US would secure many small islands and use them as bases, slowly inching closer and closer to the enemy (Japan).

    This was the only land battle fought in North America throughout the war as well as the only land battle fought in snowy conditions. This battle was also between U.S and Japanese forees.

    This battle served as the first American offensive in the Pacific region. This battle held many losses for the U.S offensive side yet still resulted in an American win.

    Battle of Leyte Gulf (Oct 23, 1944 – Oct 26, 1944)

    This was a naval battle that will go down in history as the biggest naval battle ever. This battle resulted in a huge U.S victory allowing for the U.S to invade the Philippines.
