  • Air Traffic Controllers Strike

    PATCO was decertified in 1981, causing a strike that went on until the Reagan administration

  • Equal Access Act

    A law passed in federal secondary schools to make sure that all extracurriculars were equal

  • Iran-Centra Scandal

    Officials sold weapons to Iran in hopes of releasing the hostages during the Reagan administration.

  • Gramm-Rudman-Hollings Act

    Law establishing pay cuts if Congress didn't reach their goals. It didn't get reduced deficits so it was changed in 1987 to make it more constitutional.

  • Westside Community School District v. Mergens

    Conflict over whether or not Bible study was allowed in school. The decision was that it was allowed, but the person teaching it could not be paid.

  • Reno v. ACLU

    Supreme Court case in which they tried to knock down anti-indecency laws of the Communications Decency Act

  • Bush v. Gore

    Supreme court case that decided that George W, Bush was the President of the United States. Bush won by electoral votes, and Gore won by the peoples' votes.

  • Mitchell v. Helms

    Supreme court descision that it's okay to make loans for religious schools
