    Democritus was one of the first people to discover the atom.
    His experiment envolved a slice of bread. Then he sliced the bread into four peices and discovered atomos (atomos = uncuttale). Democritus's visual of a atom with salt would have spikes all over it.

    Thomson discovered that atoms have electrons and that these electrons are smaller than the rest of the atom. He found this information conducting the cathode ray tube experiment. After the experiment he created the Plum Pudding model that showed the way he thought the atom looked, which many refer to as a blue muffin.

    Bohr's theroy of what the atom looked like was that the electrons spun around the nuclues. Bohr's visual of the atom was that it was identical to the solar system.

    These men showed that electrons were not orbiting around the nueclus in a solar system like path but they that they went around the nueclus in a very uneven path. They showed this in the Quantum Mechincal Model.
