    Democritus though that if you took an object and broke it apart you would get to somthing that you couldnt pull apart, he called these small things atoms. ( the greek word atom means uncuttable)

    He though of atom as had a central positive nucleus with negative orbiting electrons. His model suggested that almost all of the mass of the atom was contained in the tiny nucleus, and that the other parts of the atom was mostly empty surround space.
