    Democritus though that if you took an object and broke it apart you would get to somthing that you couldnt pull apart, he called these small things atoms. ( the greek word atom means uncuttable)

    He discovered that atoms had electrons. Thompson concluded that if you took a atom and cut it open you will find tiny electrons

    He though of atom as had a central positive nucleus with negative orbiting electrons. His model suggested that almost all of the mass of the atom was contained in the tiny nucleus, and that the other parts of the atom was mostly empty surround space.
