History of Music - The Baroque Era

  • Johann Sebastian Bach

Bach was born in Eisenach to a family of musicians, seemingly learning the violin as his first instrument. Due to his parents' death when he was 10, Bach lived with his brother Johann Christoph until 15, who gave him musical instruction. Brief tenures at multiple churches saw him clash with his employers. One of his earliest works was Toccata and Fugue, showing his characteristic use of Polyphony.
