  • Oberlin College

    Oberlin College is a college in Ohio that is founded, it was open to blacks and women and now has a long history of dedication to African American education.
  • George Vashon

    George was the first black student to graduate from Oberlin College. Later became one of the founding professors at the Howard University.
  • Harvard Medical Schools

    Harvard accepts its first black black students. One of the people who was accepted was Martin Delany. But Harvard later rescinds the invitations to attend due to pressure from white students.

    Rebecca Lee, the first black female medical student, graduated from the New England Female Medical Clinic

    Patrick Francis Healy is the the first American black to get his doctorate. He got it from Louvain University.

    Ruth becomes president of Brown University, this made it so she was the first African American to begin to lead a Ivy League institution.

    He was selected as president of the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg. Rodney Bennett was the first African American president of any of the five mostly white universities in Mississippi.
