  • Air-traffic Controllers Strike

    The day the PATCO workers went ons strike, because they were seeking better working conditions and pay. The PATCO workers continued to refuse to work which in turn caused Reagan to fire 11, 345 strike workers.
  • Equal Access Act

    This is a law providing the right to assemble.
  • Gramm-Rudman-Hollings Act

    The Act was aimed at cutting the budget deficit.
  • Iran-Contra Scandal

    The scandal was an operation to free American hostages being held by terrorist groups with Iranian ties. Reagan returned to the airwaves in a nationally televised address, taking full responsibility for any actions that he was unaware of, and admitting that "what began as a strategic opening to Iran deteriorated, in its implementation, into trading arms for hostages
  • Westside Community School District v. Mergens

    Ws a case involving a school district's ability to hold classes on Bible study after school. It was decided that the club could not take place because they would not allow a staff member to sponsor it.
  • Reno v. AcLU

    United States Supreme Court case, in which all nine Justices of the Court voted to strike down anti-indecency provisions of the Communications Decency Act, finding they violated the freedom of speech provisions of the First Amendment.
  • Mitchell v. Helms

    In Jefferson Parish, a local government unit in Louisiana, nearly 30% of the funds were allotted to primarily religiously affiliated private schools. A group of taxpayers sued claiming that this was a violation of the Establishment Clause as the loans constituted government aid to sectarian schools, which would in turn advance religion.
  • Bush v. Gore

    In the circumstances of this case, any manual recount of votes seeking to meet the December 12 “safe harbor” deadline would be unconstitutional under the Equal Protection Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment. Florida Supreme Court reversed and remanded.
