Dr. Longino accepts the position of Associate Professor at Mills College in Oakland, CA before becoming an Assistant Professor of Philosophy.

Dr. Longino published "Science as Social Knowledge: Values and Objectivity in Scientific Inquiry." The book argues that values do not make science arbitrary and develops a model of scientific objectivity. It received the Robert K. Merton Professional Award for best book from the Section for Science, Knowledge, and Technology of the American Sociological Association. -
Dr. Longino becomes an Associate Professor of Philosophy before becoming the Professor of Philosophy at Rice University in Houston.

Dr. Tongino becomes the Professor of Philosophy and of Women’s Studies at the University of Minnesota.

Dr. Longino's second book "The Fate of Knowledge" was published. It argues that science is influenced by society and politics. It won the Robert K. Merton Professional Award for the best book. -
Dr. Tongino becomes the Professor of Philosophy at Standford University. She continues to teach at the university as a professor emerita. -
Dr. Longino published "Studying Human Behavior: How Scientists Investigate Aggression and Sexuality". In the book Dr. Longino argues that there is no one way to study human behavior. Each way we study human behavior, helps us understand it better. -
Dr. Longino was elected President of Philosophy of Science Association.

Dr. Longino was awarded the Carl G. Hempel Award for Lifetime Achievement by the Philosophy of Science Association for her achievements in the field of philosophy.
