    Received BA from Bernard College in 1966, her Masters in Philosophy from Sussex University in 1967, and her PhD from John Hopkins University in 1973.
  • Science as Social Knowledge

    Longino's groundbreaking book in which she declares that "a methodology power enough to account for theories of any scope and depth is incapable of ruling out the influence of social and cultural values."
  • In Search of Female Epistemology

    Longino's article in The Monoist of October, 1994, discusses six theoretical virtues from feminist writings that she compares with Kuhn's five selections which he detailed in his essay, "Objectivity, Values and Theory Choice.

  • The Fate of Knowledge

    University Press publishes The Fate of Knowledge, which won the 2002 Robert K. Merton Professional Award. In it Longino discusses the conflicting beliefs between philosophers of science and sociologists of science.
  • Professional Organizations

    From 2011-2016, Longino served as Vice President and President of the Philosophy of Science Association.
  • Best Book in Feminist Philosophy

    The Women's Caucus of the Philosophy of Science Association awarded the Best Book in Feminist Philosophy Prize to Helen Longino's 2013 book Studying Human Behavior.
