Slavery was abolished in 1865, and the Carver's legally adopted George and gave him their last name.

George donates his life savings to establish the George Washington Carver Foundation.

Geroge Washington Carver dies of Anemia after Presdient Roosevelt honors him by dedicating a national monument to him. It was the first monument for an African American.
