Fred Hollows began his training at Moorfields Eye Hosptal in London, to study Ophthalmology.

Fred visited the Gurindji camp in the Northern Territory which turned his focus to the severe lack of healthcare in the Aboriginal communities. He was shocked by the number of individuals suffering from blindness that could have been prevented.

Set up the first community run Aboriginal Medical Service, located in Redfern.

Visited Nepal to reduce the cost of eye care and assist in the training of local technicians.

The non-profit aid organization is founded by Fred Hollows.
