In Topeka, Kansas Linda Brown a thrid grader had to walk a mile to school everyday even though a white only school was a block away. Thurgood Marshall took this to Supreme Court and soon blacks and whites were allowed to go to the same school.

In Montgomery, AL Rosa Parks was arrested for nonviolent defiance when she refused to move out of her seat for a white passenger. The black community started organizing boycotts and refused to ride the buses.

In Montgomery, Alabama, after the arrest of Rosa Parks. Martin Luther King Jr. and many other protesters were non- violently protesting for equal rights. They refused to ride the buses untill they were desegrageted. It ended a year later when the Montgomery bus segragation laaws were unconstitutional.
