  • The Marshall Plan

    The Marshall Plan
    The Marshall Plan was an American aid program where the US gave support to Europe to help rebuild European economies after the end of World War II. It lasted roughly around 4 years and the goals that the US wanted to accomplish were to rebuild a war-devastated region, remove trade barriers, and modernize industry. The plan did help Europe in a lot of ways and basically fixed it up for the most part. Another way to put it, the plan was a big success.
  • The Korean War

     The Korean War
    The Korean War was about a war that happened about the South and North side of Korea. It was mainly about the political diversion of an agreement of the allies and the conclusion of the Pacific War at the end of World War II. In September 1945, the Americans divided the peninsula along the 38th parallel because the empire of Japan had ruled it but since it got surrendered they took it over.
  • Creation of NATO

    Creation of NATO
    NATO which is short for The North Atlantic Treaty Organization. NATO is an intergovernmental military alliance on the North Atlantic Treaty and was created on April 4, 1949. The main motto is its member states agree to mutual defense in response to an attack. Basically NATO was just an political association between its member states.
  • Warsaw Pact

    Warsaw Pact
    The Warsaw Pact was a defense treaty between 8 different communist states of Eastern Europe during the Cold War. The Treaty/ Pact was founded by the Soviet Union. The Pact was also known as a military reaction to what happened in West Germany and same with NATO.
  • Vietnam War

    Vietnam War
    The Vietnam War was a military conflict that occurred in Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia. It was fought between North Vietnam and was supported by its communist allies between the government of South Vietnam and was supported by the US. The US government also viewed that the involvement in the war was a way to prevent a communist takeover in South Vietnam.
  • Nikita Khrushchev visits the USA

    Nikita Khrushchev visits the USA
    Nikita Khrushchev was the very first Soviet Leader to visit the US. He had taken a 2 week trip during the Cold War and had met with President Dwight Eisenhower which overtook the news ratings.

    The Bay of Pigs was a very unsuccessful military invasion of Cuba. The military was actually trained by the US government, the CIA. The invasion was a known disaster, but it still went through anyways.
  • The Berlin Wall Goes Up

    The Berlin Wall Goes Up
    The Berlin Wall was built on Aug. 13, 1961 as a barrier made by the GDR that cut off West Germany from East Germany. With the barrier there was guard towers put up along the concrete wall to prevent from people crossing over from either side of Germany. The main point of the wall was to prevent other practices to be going on in Germany and to also prevent massive emigration. The Berlin Wall also wanted to prevent the sides of Germany to make other practices available to the people like freedom

    Was vastly known as the Caribbean crisis between the Soviet Union, Cuba, and the US. The crisis actually became really close to being a nuclear conflict. It was also known as one of the major confrontations in the Cold War.
  • US sends a man to the moon

    US sends a man to the moon
    The very first man to ever step on the moon was our very own Neil Armstrong! He was the commander of the Apollo 11 team and had a big job to do and achieved it. It was vastly known all around the world because we had the science and discovered that you can travel and go on the moon.
  • Nixon visits China

    Nixon visits China
    This meeting of an arrangement meant big news and showing that both the US and China can have good relations. With that to know, it also was the first time that the US had visited the PRC.
  • US Invades Grenada

    US Invades Grenada
    The sistuation of Grenada was concern to American because they were begining to develop close relations with Cuba. Regan ordered nearly 2,000 US troops into the island where they found themselves confronted with Grenada troops.

    Was an agreement between the US and the Soviet Union that was signed in Washington DC by Ronald Reagan.
  • German Reunification/Fall of Berlin Wall

    German Reunification/Fall of Berlin Wall
    The German Democratic Republic joined the Federal Republic of Germany and when that happened the Berlin wall was also taken down that was seperating West and East Germany from eachother.
  • Collapse of the Soviet Union

    Collapse of the Soviet Union
    The USSR was formally dissolved by the declaration of Soviet of the Republica of the Supreme Soviet of the Soviet Union. It made independence known of the 15 republica of the Soveit Union.
