    It was the first Document forced onto a king that limited his powers and gave more to a group of people. Still allowed the MOnarchy to flourish but was a landmark in abolshing monarchy's true power.
  • Mayflower Compact

    Mayflower Compact
    The Mayflower Compact was a domcument stating that some of the members that signed could break away from the group and form their own Colonies and they all pledged to be part of a government.
  • Formation of the New England Confederation

    Formation of the New England Confederation
    Was a short lived military alliance between Massachusetts, Plymouth, Connecticut, and New Haven. They were all English Colonies and was found due to small battles with Indians.they refused to fight the Netherlands in the Anglo-Dutch war and were weakened because of it.
  • Albany Plan of Union

    Albany Plan of Union
    Was a plan to form a government around the Colonies. Started and advocated by Benjamin Franklin.
  • Articles of Confederation Signed.

    Articles of Confederation Signed.
    WAs written to increase cooperation between colonies and help solve i ssues that maybe some shared. Became the basis for how our Country was governed until realized that it created much more problems than it solved.
  • Spain Closing The Navigation of the Missiissippi River

    Spain closed the lower Mississippi to Americans who were trying to ship goods on the river because it was quicker and cheaper to ship goods this way than by land.
  • Newburgh Conspiracy

    Newburgh Conspiracy
    Armymen were not getting paid by the government even though they were promised to get pay. Congress also had no oney to give either. There was talk on whether the soldiers or not were going to march on the Capital.
  • Treaty of Paris

    Treaty of Paris
    Ended the American Revolutionary War. It also entailed agreements with alliances on both sides of Great Britain and the States.
  • Land Ordinance of 1785

    Land Ordinance of 1785
    UNder the Articles of the COnfederation government was not allowed to put taxation upon the people, so in an attempt to raise money, The USA was going to sell certain sections of land off. This Ordiance also layed down the early stages of Land Policy for the U.S.
  • Shay's Rebellion

    Shay's Rebellion
    Started because of unfair taxation on Farmers, where farmers had to pay taxes in bars of Gold. It was quickly stamped out but the issues were still being raised to the government and they needed to do something to fix it.
  • Annapolis Convention

    Was a meeting of twelve delegates calling for a constitutional convention to rethink the countries government. This would initial spark the beginning of the writing of the COnstitution at the Constituitonal Convention.

    The Constituitonal COnvention Opens, delegates come and go casting votes on what they feel our new governemnt should be like. Brainstorming throwing ideas out etc. The number of delegates there fluxutaes daily between 30-40 delegates.

    Also known as the Connnecticut compromise, created by Roger Sherman a delegate from connecticut (thus the name). Where delegates came upon the agreement of the constitution and where we get our basic foundation laws and rights we have today.

    The Northwest Ordinance brought about the creation of the first organized Terriotory of the U.S., the Northwest Territory. The Northwest Territory was mostly made up of the mid western United States.

    Anti Federalists, people against the constituion, wrote a collection of papers in opposition of the ratifying of the constituion.

    Massachusetts ratifies the constituion becoming the fifth state to ratify.

    George Washington elected becoming the first President of the UNited States of America almost by all popular vote.
  • New Hampshire Ratifies.

    New Hampshire Ratifies.
    New Hampshire becomes th state to ratifiy the Constituion.

    Bill of Rights adopted and sent for ratification. There was really no debate on whether or not we should have them.
