  • Doppler theory

    Doppler theory
Christian Andrea Doppler a German Austrian mathematician and physicist noticed that sound changes in frequency as sound moves toward and away from an observer. By 1845 he generalized this to include all wave phenomena, including light. Mach proved that Doppler was correct by experimentally proving his theory as far as sound goes. Mach invented ways of measuring sound wave and wave propagation and developed a measuring system called the mach number, which is used to determine airplane speed.
  • super-sonic motion

    super-sonic motion
Ernst Mach was the first to systematically study super-sonic motion, leading to many contributions today most noticeably in aerodynamics . In honor of the philosopher/scientist the term or measurement used to describe the speed of sound are name after Ernst Mach for example mach 1 breaking the the sound barrier. But his work wasn't acknowledge until 16 years after his death by a Swiss engineer name Jakob Ackeret. Chuck Yeager was the first person to achieve mach 1 in October 14 1947.
