Erikson's 3rd stage Initiative vs. Guilt is demonstrated by this trial run of what it means to be an adult and acting out roles as they see them. -
Intimacy and Isolation
David (28) marries his college sweetheart Lisa.
Erikson's 6th stage, Intimacy vs. Isolation is demonstrated by the beginning of a relationship as an adult in college. The relationship was deemed successful so they added the intimacy of marriage. -
Autonomy vs. Shame
Hayden (2 1/2) is showing interest in potty training. His mother encourages him and he becomes confident in his ability to use the toilet himself.
This demonstrates Erikson's 2nd stage of Autonomy vs. Shame, in which a well cared for child becomes self assured and confident rather than feeling shamed or guilt.
