death of grandfather
when his grandfather died he was only 11 years old and this impacted him greatly because it was the first death of a person he knew/was related too -

moved in with grandparents
when my grandfather was in 7th grade he got the flu and because he is one of 9 children and is the oldest, there were many young children around. my great grandfather suggested that he move in with them for a couple of weeks until he is feeling better. then turned into 3 years until he moved back home n 9th grade -
first love
in 1962 my he started to date Betty Boyea who he didn't know at the time was going to become his wife for a little over 50 years now -
JFK assassination
on November 22nd, 1963 my grandfather was a junior in high school in English class when he and his fellow classmates heard the news. for the next 3 or 4 days, everyone was basically glued to their television sets, watching the wake at the capital followed by the funeral. this impacted everyone in America at the time and was a big moment in history to be apart of. https://www.businessinsider.com/jfk-assassination-newspaper-front-pages-2017-10 -
championship game
his senior year he helped lead his team to win the championship game for basketball. basketball was always a huge part of his life and it was always his favorite sport. -

in 1965 he graduated from Chateaugay high school to attend Potsdam college in upstate New York -

in 1969 he graduated from Potsdam college -

year in Ogdensburg NY
after he graduated he got a job teaching in Ogdensburg NY because it was close to Potsdam where my grandmother was still finishing her education -
Marriage
right after my grandma graduated from college in 1970, they got married shortly after in July and bought a trailer in their hometown where they would live for 2 years. They moved into the trailer after their 2 week honeymoon in Ireland -
Job
in September of 1970, he began teaching English at Chateaugay high school–where he attended–and taught there for 33 years -
cross country
he coached cross country for 2 years before he began his long coaching experience with basketball. -
First child
on September 10th, 1972 Casey Boyea Cook was born into the world -
First home
shortly after my dad was born they moved into their first house where they have continued to live ever since -
Death of father
in October of 1972, his father died of a heart attack. This had a huge impact on him because he was only 27 years old. He is the oldest child in the family and had a very strong relationship with his father. Not a day goes by where he doesn't think about him at least once. -
quit smoking
In 1975 he quit smoking and began running after gaining a lot of weight. this was the start of his passion for running. -

on April 3rd, 1975, Marci Boyea Cook was born -
JV basketball
After coaching cross country he moved on to coach JV basketball for 3 years winning one championship -
First Marathon
In 1977 he ran his first marathon and at the time it was titled the Green Mountain Island Marathon in Burlington VT -
Second marathon
In 1978 he ran the Green Mountain Islan Marathon again but after this, his bad knees had to end his running career and that is where he found his passion and love for golf which he still plays today. -

For 20 years he photographed weddings and met a lot of really nice and cool people -

Heart Surgery
In 2000 he had a stent put in a blocked coronary artery and hasn't had any issues since! -
Death of mother
on June 23rd, 2000, 3 weeks before my parent's wedding his mother died and was later buried in the dress she was planning on wearing to the wedding -

on July 29th, 2000 my parents got married -

after 33 years of teaching my grandfather retired -

current
currently, my grandfather is still living in Chateaugay, NY with my grandmother where they continue to travel and visit their grandchildren as often as they can. in his free time, he enjoys reading, cooking, and playing golf.
