Edgar Allan Poe dies of unknown causes in Baltimore, Maryland. On October 6, 1847, he was checked into the hospital and died early the next morning. Theories of his death include: Beaten because of gambling debts, consumption of alchol, and kidnapping. He is buried at the University of Maryland School of Law.
