    Poe is  Born
    Poe was abandoned as a baby due to his parents deaths and was separated from his brother and sister. Poe's new stepfather had called him a punk for being shamefully ungrateful. Poe had written his first poem when he was 15 and had enrolled at the University of Virginia and there, his writing would embark on the world.
  • West Point

    West Point
    In 1827, Poe decided to join the army and did well and had gone up the rank of sargeant major and his writing of poetry was published under an anonymous name and he continued to write. In 1829, he was enlisted in the army soon realizing that he did not want to continue any further and had got himself kicked out. After he left, his brother Henry died. Tuberculosis and he became a starving writer.

    Poe's Final Letter to Foster Dad
    While Poe's career as a starving artist continued, he had wrote a letter to his foster dad asking if he would aid him through his trouble. He never responded and when he died on March 27, 1834, Poe had realized he was omitted from his will.

    As life went on for Poe, he was hired as the editor for Southern Literary Messenger and he had soon fell in love with his thirteen year old cousin, Virginia Clemm and had married her on May 16 1836. Their marriage was a happy one as it felt like a brother and sister relationship more.
  • Poe's First Novel

    Poe's First Novel
    In 1837, Poe had published his first and only novel, "The Narrative of Arthur Gordon Pym of Nantucket". It had described the story of a whaling ship stowaway that had resorted to shipwreck, mutiny, and cannibalism. The reception was not very good and Poe had realized that the novel didn't have that feeling that gets someone attached to the book and won't put it down, so he continued on with short stories instead.
  • Virginia's Death

    Virginia's Death
    While Poe was singing and playing the piano, Virginia had the first sign of Tuberculosis as blood started to drip down her mouth. When she had realized she couldn't get better, she had tried every minute to keep her husband happy and she had promised him that after she was gone, she would be his guardian angel. On the morning of January 30, 1842, she died and Poe was in deep depressiom and he had asked an artist to paint a picture of her. It's the only known painting of her.

    After Poe had published his series of detective stories and the loss of his wife, Poe had gone into an alcoholic downfall and tried to prevent himself from drinking, but he couldn't. It's still unknown what he did his last few days of his life, but one thing that was positive is that he was found unconscious in a Baltimore gutter and was taken to a hospital, but was pronounced dead ahead of time.
