  • Joseph Stalin was born

    Joseph Stalin was born as Josef Vissarionovich Djugashvili in the small town of Gori, Georgia, which at the time was part of the Russin empire. He had an abusive father which later led to him being a cruel and un-caring dictator.
  • he attended a seminary for the georgian orthadox church

    When he was a teen he recived a scholarship to attend semnary. while he was there he bagn reading the Communist Manifesto written by Karl Marx causing him to become interested in the revolution against the Russian monarchy.
  • Stalin was expelled form the seminary school

    He was expelled for missing his exams but he claimed he missed themfor Marxist propoganda. after he left he became an underground political agitator. He led labor strikes and demonstrations.
  • Stalin's appointment to the Central Commitee of the Bolshevik Party

    Vladimir Lenin, the leader of the Bolshevik Party, appointed Stalin to serve on the first Central Commitee of the Bolshevik party.

    The Bolshevik Party seized power in Russia. Stalin was still on the Central Commitee at the time.
  • The USSR was formed

    The USSR was formed with Vladimir Lenin as its first leader. Joseph Stalin was the Secretary General of the Central Commitee at the time which allowed him to put his friends in high ranking goverment jobs and build a base of political support.
  • Lenin's Death

    Lenin died on January 21st 1924 starting a struggle for power among his top advisors to decide who would be the next ruler of the USSR.
  • Stalin takes power

    Stalin becomes the undisputed leader of the USSr. he still holds the title of Secretary General but is now also now as the Premier of the Soviet Union as well.
  • The Non-Aggression Pact

    Stalin met with german leader Adolf Hitler and signed the non-aggression pact. The pact stated that the germans would not attck any part of the USSR and that the USSR would not do anything to interfere with the plans that Hitler had.

    Stalin died at the age of 74 and was still ruling Russia at the time of his death
