    When Dred Scott was born he immediately put into slavery. The exact time of birth is unknown but people believe he was born between 1795 and 1800. He was owned by Peter Blow and his wife, Elizabeth, who both lived in Virginia.

    During 1818, Dred Scott with some other slaves, moved to their cotton plantation in Alabama. Dred Scott worked at the cotton plantation for 12 more years. Dred Scott was working for the Blows family.

    A little wile before Peter Blow died, in 1832, he sold Dred Scott to a man named Dr John Emerson. Dr. John Emerson was a surgeon in the army at the Jefferson Barracks. He ends up serving Dr. John for 11 years.

    Irene Emerson had the St. Louis County sheriff was in charge of Scott. He was working for the sheriff from March 17, 1848 until March 18, 1857. The sheriff hired them out and kept their waged until the court case was resolved.

    Irene Emerson married a man that opposed slavery. Then John Sanford died, and Irene Emerson returned Dred Scott and his family to the Blow family. The Blow family eventually freed Dred Scott and his family.

    About a year after gaining his freedom it comes to an end. Dred Scott gets sick with tuberculosis and died. The Blow family paid for his burial.
