Jan 7, 1955 Ethel Sheppard, Sams mother, commited suicide Jan 18, 1955 Dr. Richard Sheppard, Sams father, dies of cancer. Apr 1, 1955 Corrigan files for a motion for a new trial. Jul 13, 1955 The Eighth District Ohio Court of Appeals confirms denial for the motion for a new trial Jul 14, 1955 Sheppard tranferred to a maximum security prison near Columbus. Jul 16, 1964 Judge Weinman dismisses Sheppards conviction, calling it "a mockery of justice". Sheppard was released on a $10,000 bond. He decides to marry Ariane Tebbenjohanns. Oct 24, 1966 Sheppards second trial begins. Apr 6, 1970 Sam Sheppard convicted of murder. Jun 18, 1970 Sam's wife, Ariane, & his son, Chip, break Sam out of prison and flee the country.
