Diego Rivera begins to paint the frescoes in the DIA. When they were finished, Rivera decided that they were some of his favorite works. The twenty-seven murals are packed with symbolism, like much of Rivera's other works.

Rivera is commissioned to paint this piece for the Rockefeller Center in New York. This painting was extremely controversial due to its depiction of Lenin, and was taken down even before it was finished. Luckily, Rivera repainted it as Man, Controller of the Universe.
