John meets Savannah at the dock when after he retrieves her bag from the ocean. -
Returning Home
John returns home to spend time with his dad after not seeing him for a long time. -

John and Savannah realize they are in love. -
Back to War
John returns to war. During his time away, Savannah and John write letters to each other to keep in touch. -
Coming Home
John comes back home to spend time with Savannah and his dad and after a few weeks goes back to the army life. -
Sick
Johns dad has a heartattack and John comes home to take care of him. -
Someone New
Savannah realizes she is in love with her friend Tim. -
The Breakup
Savannah writes a letter to John telling him about Tim and says their relationship is over. -
Death
Johns dad dies because of his health condition. -
Reunited
John comes back home and talks to Savannah about their new lives. He learns she married Tim. He also finds out Tim is in the hospital with cancer. -

Savannah and John go on to live their seperate lives. -
