Daniel Handler, better known by his pen name Lemony Snicket was born in San Francisco, California. Though he goes by Daniel Handler in real life, Lemony Snicker is his nickname. He is the son of Lou Handler, an accountant and former Jewish refugee from Germany, and Sandra Handler, an opera singer and retired dean of City College of San Francisco.

Daniel began attending operas with his mother in the early 1980s because his mother was an opera singer. He began singing in a couple productions with the San Francisco Boys Chorus.

Being an extremely smart and intelligent student helped him get into the prestigious Lowell High School, where he graduated.

Daniel Handler double majored in English and American Studies at Wesleyan University. There he also graduated.

On May 17, 1992 Daniel Handler won the award of "The Academy of American Poets Prize".

During the years of 1992-1993 Daniel won the award at Wesleyan University. It was the Wesleyan University's Olin Fellowship Award that he had won.

On April 10, 1998, Handler published his first book in "The Series of Unfortunate Events" which is "The Bad Beginning."

Under his original name, three of Handler's novels were published. "The Basic Eight" was rejected 37 times before it was finally published in 1998. This inspired another work, "The Series of Unfortunate Events."

Watch Your Mouth was finished before "The Basic Eight" was published. After "The Basic Eight," it was one of his second novels to be published. "Watch Your Mouth" had just been finished but had not yet been published, so it became the second novel.

In 2003 Handler screenplays were produced such as the films "Rick", "Kill The Poor" in 2006, and "A Series of Unfortunate Events" in 2004.

It is not said what day and month Handler's child was born but it is said that he was born the year 2003. Their parents named him Otto, Otto Handler.

During the year 2005, Daniel Handler had a total of 11 books of "A Series of Unfortunate Events" published.

He also won an award for "The Penultimate Peril", a Series of Unfortunate Events Book under his pen name of Lemony Snicket. The book won the award of the Quill Award for The Penultimate Peril.

The Lemony Snicket books have been international best-sellers, and the 13th and final installment of the series came out. On the day the thirteenth book came out, Handler appeared on the "Today" show as Lemony Snicket's representative.

In December the year of 2011 Mr. Handler wrote his third and last novel of "Why We Broke Up" and it got published. There is also a website of it where you can submit your own heartbreaking stories and read other people's heart breaking stories as well
