Around 1926 he started working as a composer, mainly tango and danzón music.

He started working at the radio with his own program and got the nickaname "El guasón del Teclado" that used a few years until it was replaced with " Cri-Cri el grillito Cantor" -
As Cri-Cri he composed over 260 songs a and reached his peak popularity at1963 with the release of his Movie in collaboration with Disney. -
José Francisco Gabilondo Soler died the 14th of December 1990, but his legacy continues.
