    The Problems of Peace
    Once war ended in Europe much of Germany was in ruins and had no government . The allies wanted to rebuild Germany's future and even had planned this before fighting with Germany had ceased.

    February of 1946 Stalin believed war between the East and the West was bound to happen

    The Cold War was more than a military rivalry it was a struggle for power and control between the soviet Union and the United States. As communism spread throughout Eastern Europe tension spread throughout Eastern Europe.

    The Truman doctrine was a pledge to provide economic and military aid to stop communism. Truman was committed he wanted to help free people's resist. U.S congress agreed to send millions of dollars to help aid Greece and Turkey during the timw of need.

    The Nuremberg Trials were held in Germany between 1945 & 1949. Allied military counts tried more than two hundred Nazi and military officials. Several dozen were sentenced to death for their roles in the Holocaust and in other war crimes.

    Between the 1950 and the 1960s nuclear seemed to come closer as the Soviet Union and the United States raced to develop the newest and most powerful weapons. This rivalry between the two superpowers became very intense. U.S was was shocked and shaken when finding out that the Soviet Union had created the nuclear bomb and was ahead in the race.

    Once the the Soviet Union placed missiles on the Island Cuba this made the United States furious. In October 1962 the cuban Missile crisis brought the world close to a nuclear war. These types of missiles could have destroyed up to 1200miles from Cuba.

    After the end of communism brought many bad end results for the economies of Eastern Europe. Many started businesses and the highly skilled got well paying jobs in new enterprises. There were still high-unemployment rates in some areas.

    Iraq was led by their leader Saddam Hussein to attack Kuwait in which troubled the United States because it was close to one of U.S oil supplies. In the 1990s American was threatened by a series of terrorist attacks including the bombing of the world trade center killing millions.
  • The Soviet Union Collapes

    The Soviet Union Collapes
    The Soviet Union consisted of 15 separate republics in which many wanted their own freedom. Republic after republic started to declare independence and in 1991 the soviet government had ceased to function and soon completely collapsed. After 40 years of tension and problems the cold was finally over for good.
