    The Truman doctrine was introduced by President Truman. Its initial purpose was to give Greece and Turkey $400 million in aid. This was asked of the U.S. by the British to help the Greece government after they had lost the money to aid them. No military troops were sent.

    The Marshal Plan was to aid Europeans. The plans goals was to help build up their economies and to prevent Soviets from spreading communism. The aid lasted for four years and provided about $13 million in help.

    The Soviet Union and the United States were in a space race. After the launch of Sputnik by the Soviets, the U.S. decided it was time to take action. They worked on sending a man to the moon. On July 20, 1969, this goal was achieved.
