The construction of Berlin Wall
GDR started its construction of what we called “Berlin Wall” today. GDR claimed that it should protect its people from being attacked by those fascist like west and avoid the infiltration of rotten political system. But the truth is that the Eastern Germany government want to prevent its people from running away to West German. The wall made the relations between the US and Soviet Union worse and added fuel to the “Cold War”. -
Nuclear Test Ban Treaty ratified
The A-bomb used in Japan was a great shock to people all over the world. After more than 8 years of negotiation, the Limited Nuclear Test Ban Treaty was signed in Moscow on August 5, 1963 by US, Soviet Union, Britain. It played a significant role in decreasing the US-Soviet confrontation and the safety of the whole world.

A-bombs developed by China
The People’s Republic of China succeeded in its nuclear test in 1964 and became the fifth member of nuclear club, after the US, Soviet Union, Great Britain and France. The successful text made US government more concerned about the Cold War balance as China belongs to the communist section, although it had some problems with Soviet Union at that time.

Announcement of dispatching of 200,000 U.S. troops to Vietnam
Upon Kennedy’s assassination, Johnson took the presidency. He immediately focused on the Vietnam war and in 1965, he dispatched over 200,000 US troops to Vietnam. He explained the escalation of the war aimed to end the communism with strength and determination.

US President Richard Nixon paid his first state visit to China on February 21, 1972. It is a historical event for both countries. It marked a great step for America in ameliorating its relationships with China, one of the major Communist countries worldwide.
