    This bomb was created by American scientists during the second world war. The objective of the creation of this bomb was to have a quick end to World War II and having the United States gain possession in order to control foreign policy.

    The Gouzenko Affair is credited for being the trigger event of the cold war. Igor Gouzenko fled the Soviet Embassy in Ottawa with multiple documents that proved a 'Soviet spy ring' in Canada. Because of this Canada arrested 11 Soviet spy's.

    In January of 1942, 26 nations at war met in Washington to sign the agreement of the United Nations to stand behind the Atlantic Charter, using everything against the Axis power and saying yes to not making a separate peace

    Korean War

    June of 1950, 75,000 soldiers from Korea army had crossed the border between the Soviet-backed Democratic People’s Republic of Korea to the north and the pro-Western Republic of Korea to the south. This resulted in a war between the Koreans and the Americans. This invasion was the first military action of the Cold War.

    In August of 1957, an agreement for an organization called NORAD was announced and was to be formed between Canada and the United States. NORAD stands for North American Aerospace Defense Command
  • Suez Crisis

    On October 29th 1956 Israeli forces pushed into Egypt after the Egyptian president made the Suez Canal national. The Israeli troops were followed and backed up by France and Britain, their goal was to remove the Egyptian president and regain power in the west. The United Nations forced the three invaders to call off thier attack.

    The Avro Arrow (or The CF-105) was a
    supersonic jet plane. This jet was designed to carry air-to-air nuclear-tipped missiles to destroy Soviet bomb attacks over the Canadian North. Even though this jet seemed like a good idea at the time, it was much too costly to keep up and running, therefore why the cancellation took place.

    This was the most serious event that happened during the cold war between the United States and the USSR that took place in October, 1962. This is when the Soviet Union, took action at sea, bringing nuclear missiles to Cuba.
