  • Harry S. Truman

    This is the day he became President.
  • The United Nations

    This is the date that the United NAtions Charter was signed. The United Nations was formed towards the end of World War II. This organization was formed to prevent any more World Wars and to resolve international conflicts.
  • World War II Outcomes

    This is the end of World War II. There were multiple outcomes of the War. It was the rise of two superpowers: the U.S. and the Soviet Union. The Cold War started between the two Nations. The Marshall Plan rebuilt Western Europe and Japan, the Soviets controlled Eastern Europe, and the United Nations was formed.
  • The Truman Doctrine

    This was the date that Truman gave a speech that introduced the Truman Doctrine. This Doctrine said that the U.S. would give aid to Greece and Turkey to prevent them from falling into the Soviet Sphere.
  • The Marshall Plan

    This is the date that Marshall shared introduced the Marshall Plan. The Marshall Plan was meant to rebuild Western Europe's economies and moods. It was the European Recovery Program.
  • NATO

    This is the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. It is also known as the Atlantic Alliance, it was signed on April 4, 1949. This is a millitary alliance based on the North Atlantic Treaty.
  • The Red Scare

    The Red Scare was the fear of rising Communism. It was originally following imediately after World War I, but there was another scare in the late 40's and early 50's. Stalin signed a Nazi-Soviet non-aggression act. This was also known as McCarthyism. The U.S. had fear of Communism spreading.
  • McCarthyism

    McCarthyism is the accusing of people being communists without evidence. This origincated during the time of the Red Scare. It was named McCarthyism because Joseph McCarthy was known to practice this often.
  • The Korean War

    This War was between North and South Korea. The U.N. supported South Korea and China and the Soviet Union supported North Korea. The War ended in 1953 by the Armistace Agreement.
  • Dwight D. Eisenhower

    This is the day he became President.
  • The Vietnam War

    This War, like the Korean War, was fought between the North and South sections of Korea. North Vietnam was supported by China and the Soviet Union. South Vietnam was backed by the U.N.
  • John F. Kennedy

    This is the day he became President.
  • The Bay of Pigs Invasion

    This was an United States attmept to invade Cuba. There were over 1400 Cuban exiles that attempted to charge Cuba. Fidel Castro put himself in power and the plan was to overthrow Castro and that type of government. the U.S. trained the exiles, but the plan failed.
  • Lyndon B. Johnson

    This is the day Kennedy was shot, and Johnson became President.
  • Richard Nixon

    This is the day he became President.
  • Ronald Reagan

    This is the day he became President.
  • George H. W. Bush

    This is the day he became President.
  • The Fall of Communism in Eastern Europe

    This is the night that the Berlin Wall came down. This wall was a symbol of the Fold War division. Communist rule ended.
  • The Persian Gulf War

    This is the day that Iraqi Troops invaded Kuwait. They were met from forces in the U.N.
  • The Fall of the Soviet Union

    This is the date of the finalization by Decleration of the end of the Soviet Union. This Decleration was in acknowledgement of the twelve Republics of the Soviet Union being independant.
  • William J. Clinton

    This is the day he became President.
  • NAFTA

    NAFTA is the North American Free Trade Agreement. This is an agreement with Canada, the U.S., and Mexico. It created a trilateral trade bloc in North America.
  • George W. Bush

    This is the day he became President.
  • September 11th, Terrorist Attacks

    This is the day that terrorists targeted the U.S. The twin towers were crashed into by two planes.
  • The War in Afghanistan

    This Wat that is going on in Afghanistan, was an intervention to the Afghan Civil War by the U.S. and it's allies in respnse to the terrorist attacks on September 11.
  • The War in Iraq

    This is the day that the United States led an invasion on Iraq, This war was started because of Iraq possessing WMDs. These are weapons of mass destruction.
  • The Cuban Missiles Crisis

    This Crisis was between Cuba, the Soviet Union, and the United States. This was a crisis because the World was on the brink of a nuclear war. The Soviets had missiles in Cuba and we had missiles in Turkey as well as other countries. Kennedy formed a peaceful resolution between the U.S. and the Soviets.
  • Kennedy's Assasination

    President Kennedy was shot on November 22, 1963. He was assasinated in Texas during a motorcade. He was killed by Lee Harvey Oswald. President Johnson was sworn into office in the same day.
