Potsdam Conference
- The final wartime meeting of the leaders of the Allied "Big Three" nations and dealt chiefly with the future of Germany and the role of the Soviet Union in the war against Japan
- Saltin demanded heavy reparations from Gemany for the vast damage suffered by the Soviet Union in the war.
- The Allies also revealed agreement on the "three D's"

Beggining of Cold War
- At the end of World War II, Germany had been divided into four occupation zones; with Greath Britain, the U.S, france, and the U.S.S.R. Each governing their own sector.
- The division of Berlin and it's location withing the larger Soviet occupation zone carried potential for conflict democratizization, denaz, fication, and demilitarization.

Berlin Blockade/Air Lift
- A massive transfer of essential supplies flown into Germany
- Began when Jospeh Stalin restricted access to Burlin by closing water and railway transport and the highways leading to the city
- Stalin agreed to lift the blockade if the Allies would end the counter blockade
