The organization constitutes a system of collective defence whereby its member states agree to mutual defense in response to an attack by any external party.

    East Germany's government decides to start building the Berlin wall to seperate East and West Germay. It was almost like a symbol for the Cold War. East Germany sealed off all entires so no one could leave. The US was angered by the wall but didn't show much interest in starting a war with East Germany. Kennedy did go over there and declared that America was siding with West Germany. Late 1989, the wall was demolished, symbolizing the end of the Cold War.

    President Kennedy, in a televised address on October 22, announced the discovery of the installations and proclaimed that any nuclear missile attack from Cuba would be regarded as an attack by the Soviet Union and would be responded to accordingly. He also imposed a naval quarantine on Cuba to prevent further Soviet shipments of offensive military weapons from arriving there

  • USS Pueblo Captured

    USS Pueblo Captured
    The USS Pueblo was a ship heading to North Korea to gain information. They were caught and North Korea starting firing, injuring several crew members. The American's tried to escape, but their capture was inevitable. When they were captured, they crew members were held as prisoners for months with cruel punishment. President Johnson said not to retaliate, so they made an agreement and apology letter to North Korea and by December 23, 1968, the soldiers were finally freed.
