    Represented the split between Nationalists and Communists.
  • United Nations

    50 nations met in San Francisco to write a charter for the UN. After the senet ratified the carter they made their permanent home in New York City. The UN created the Jewish state of Israel, mediated regional conflicts, and provided food and aid for much of the world during the war.
  • Truman Doctrine

    Stated that the US would support Greece and Turkey with economic and military aid.
  • State of Israel

    The Jews were given Israel after WW2.
  • South Vietnam

    It officially become a country during the cold war.
  • NATO

    Was a safegaurd for the North Atlantic counries.
  • Atomic Bomb

    The bomb was used to stop the expansion of the USSR so then the Russians made the bomb to lessten US control on them.
  • Senetor McCarthy

    Accused employees of the State Department were members of the Communist Party.
  • Korean War

    War between Communists and Non-Comunists (North and South Korea).
  • Marshall Plan

    Also known as the European Recovery Program. The US gave support to many southern and western European countries in order to avoid a communist economy starting.
  • Cuban Revolution

    When General Batista overthrough the president of Cuba Fidel Castro wanted to overthrough Batista by leading an attack against the government.
  • Guatamala

    America intervened in Guatamala to limit tthe spread of communism.
  • SEATO

    It was a pact to protect South Africa.
  • Warsaw Pact

    The Soviet Union made this pact when West Germany goined the NATO, it was the 'Treaty of Friendship, Cooperation, and Mutual Assistance'.
  • Nuclear Test Ban Treaty

    The United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, France, and the Soviet Union got together to try and negotiate ending atomic bomb testing/using but the SU feared spies.
  • Vietnam War

    The US was involved in the war to prevent the Communists from taking over South Vietnam.

  • Hungarian Uprising

    This was a spontanious revolt against the Soviets. It was the first big hit on the Soviets since WW2 even though it didn't exactly work out perfect.
  • Eisenhower Doctrine

    The doctrine stated that any country could ask for US assistance or aid of any kind if it was being threatened by another country.
  • Bay of Pigs

    The US attempted to invade Cuba trying to gain support from the majority of the population. But we were overtaken by Castros army.
  • Berlin Wall (Built and Fell)

    It was built to separate the West side from the East side (the East side being controled by Russia). The wall was destroyed to mark a new era.

  • Cuban Missile Crisis

    Atomic missiles were placed on Cuba to counter the US. The US announced that the Soviets were planing on bombing Cuba. Soon the missiles were dismantled.
  • Gulf of Tonkin

    The US allowed attacks on North Vietnam for fear that if South Vietnam fell to Communism so would most of southern Asia.
  • Tet Offencive

    It was the turning point in the war. The Communist set up a surprise attack where they dressed up as normal people and attacked the US forces, but they did not succeed in the battle.
  • Nixon Visits China

    Nixon visiting China made the relationship between the US and China much stronger.

    They sign a treaty to eliminate the progress of the Soviet Union.
