  • Border states

    The Capital of the Confederacy was moved to Richmond, Virginia. Kentucky and Missouri stayed in the Union. there was a total of border states: Kentucky, Missouri,Maryland and Delaware.
  • Lincoln's Inaugural Address

    Assured the South that their rights would be protected, but never recognized their new government. Lincoln would not allow secession declaring that "no state upon its mere action, can lawfully get out of the Union.
  • Fort Sumter

    The First battle the the South has won
  • First Bull Run

    First Major Battle in Northern Virginia that the South also won.
  • Antietam

    It took place in Maryland at the Border State, It was considered the bloodiest day and it was a draw and making a wait for a Northern Victory.
  • Vicksburg

    This took place in Mississippi, This defeat put General Grant at the top of the military. It also allowed the Union to control the Mississippi River. The Union won this battle.
  • Gettysburg

    It took place in Pennsylvania was known as the last war that the Union won and it also considered at the turning point because it's close to the end
  • The progress of the War and the End

    The North created an Anaconda plan that slowly squeezed the South into submission. William T. Sherman was the one that led the invasion of the south from Tennessee to Savannah.
  • Reconstruction Goals

    End Slavery, Reunite the southern states back into the united states of America. Punish the South for starting the Civil War. keep Plantation owners from gaining control again.
  • Johnson's Plan

    States had to Void Secession. Sates had to Ratify the 13th amendment. States could hold elections and rejoin the Union. Ten of the Southern states had re-constituted their governments.
  • Black Codes

    Laws passed by states to limit the new found freedom of blacks. They established curfews, vagrancy laws,labor contracts,and land restrictions. Jim Crow Laws was a segregation of whites and blacks. A Poll Tax where African Americans are where they can register to vote.
  • Lincolns Assassination

    First Major Relief agency in U.S. History. It gave out clothing and Medical supplies, sent teachers to the South to educate children, and issued food to both white and blacks.
  • Amendments 14 and 15

    The 14th amendment made all persons born in the U.S. citizens with equal protection under the law. The 15th amendment guaranteed right to vote to African Americans.
  • Ku Klux Klan

    There was a group that killed people in Louisiana and 300 in Arkansas. They kept the blacks from voting, Destroyed the republican party in South, and Resist Reconstruction efforts.
