    Proclamation of 1763

    This was signed by King George lll and prohibited any English settlement, west of the Appalachian Mountains. So if any English people were settled in the east they had to move to the west. This didn’t make the colonists happy what-so-ever.
  • Sugar Act of 1764

    Sugar Act of 1764

    This was a law created to stop the smuggling of sugar and molasses. This happened in the colonies and it reduced the previous tax rate. This caused them to make money but make sugar and other things scarce.
  • Stamp Act of 1765

    The Stamp Act caused all printed materials to be taxed. This included newspapers, documents, playing cards, and other items. The colonists were not very happy about this.
  • Quartering Act

    Quartering Act

    This act allowed royal troops to stay in houses. They also could stay in empty building if bedrocks were not available. This didn't make some people happy.

    The Boston Massacre was caused when a mob harassed British soldiers. It wasn’t really a “massacre” because only 5 people were killed. Everyone brought it out to new extremes like, saying it was a massacre.
  • Boston Tea Party

    This was a political protest and American Colonists were mad at Britain because of “No taxation without representation”. So they dumped 342 chests of tea into the water. A British Parliament helped make up the money.
  • Boston Port Act

    Boston Port Act

    This was a main port and was closed during this act. It was closed until 1774, until the price of the lost/dumped tea was covered. This act caused colonists to move to a new port.
  • Quebec Act

    Quebec Act

    This act granted civil government and religious freedom. This freedom was for the Catholics in Quebec. This was only for the people in Quebec.
  • Massachusetts Regulating Act

    Massachusetts Regulating Act

    This act made all law officers subject to appointment. This was required by the royal governor. It banned all town meetings.
  • Impartial Administration of Justice Act

    Impartial Administration of Justice Act

    This allowed the royal governor of a colony to move tyrials. This only happened if the judge didn't think it would be fair. He could only move it to other colonies.
