truman doctine was an american foreign policy to stop soviet imperialism during the cold war. it was announced to congress by president harry s. truman on march 12, 1947 when he pledged to contain soviet threats to greece and turkey he established that the united staes would provide political military and economic assistance. -
Berlin Airlift
the berlin airlift 1948-1949. at the end of the second world war united states british and soviet military forces divided and occupied germany. also divided into occupation zones, berlin was located far inside soviet, controlled eastern Germany. truman did not want to cause world war II instead he ordered a massive airlift of supplies into west berlin. -
Korean War
On june 25,1950 the korean war was a war between the north and south korea, in which a united nations force led by the united states of america fought for the south, china fought the north. the korean war 1950-1953 began when the north korean communist army crossed the 38th parallel and invaded non-communist south korea. -

The Sputnik (1957) was about the soviet union that had launched the earths first artificial satellite, sputnik 1. the successful launch came as a shock to experts and citizens in the us, who had hoped that the united states would accomplish this scientific advancement first, october 4, 1957. a group of scientist were involved led by Mikhail Takhonravov. It took place in space when it was launched. -
Bay Of Pigs Invasion (1961)
On April 17, 1961. 1400 cuban exiles launched what became a botched invasion at the bay of pigs on the south coast of cuba. In 1959 Fidel Castro came to power in an armed revolt that over threw cuban dictator Fulgencio Batista. this happened because a group of cuban refugees lands in cuba and attemps to topple the communist goverment of fidel castro. -
Cold War
The cold war was a state of political and military tension after world war II between powers in the western bloc and powers in the eastern bloc. historians do not fully agree on the dates. the united stated and its allies and the soviet union and its allies and the soviet union and its satellite states began a decades-long struggle for supremacy. its called the cold war because they were both afraid to fight eachother. -

it was a united states policy using numerous strategies to prevent the spread of communism abroad. this policy was a response to a series of moves by the soviet union to enlarge its communist sphere of influence in eastern europe, china,korea, and vietnam: (1947- 1989) kennan and containment, george f. kennan were involved. -
Marshall plan
Juna 5, 1947. the marshall plan was an american initiative to aid western europe in which the us gave 13 billion in economic support to help rebuild western european economies after the end of world war, george c. marshall urged that european countries decide on their economic needs so that material & fanancial aid from the us could be intergrated on a brooadscale.
