August 23, 1908 was one of the darkest days for Clive Lewis and his family. His mother passed away from cancer on his father’s birthday. This unfortunate event deeply impacted C.S. Lewis’s early development, causing him to abandon his Christian faith. He was only 9 years old at the time of his mother's passing.

He was sent to a few boarding schools between 1908-1910. However, when his health began to decline, C. S. Lewis was sent to Malvern, England to recover.
