The battle of Waterloo takes place and Napoleon is defeated. This means that Portugal is now free from Napoleon forces. -

Fight for independence begins
Brazil sees them to be different compared to Portugal. This led to Pedro becoming king and Brazil claimed independence from Portugal. -
Emperor
Pedro is crowned emperor of Brazil. This event is very special to Pedro because he could be like his father. He is also the first emperor of Brazil. -
Constitution
The Constitution of 1824 was made. This was the first constitution of Brazil. -
Marriage
Dom Pedro is married by proxy to Amélie of Leuchtenberg. They were married by proxy. -
Handing down of the thrown
Dom Pedro I abdicates in favor of his 5-year-old son Dom Pedro II who reigned for almost 59 years. -
Slave Trading
Slave Trading is forbidden in Brazil. Most of the owners ignore this law. Slavery wasn't officially abolished until 1888 -
Death
Dom Pedro I dies. His cause of death was tuberculosis. In 1840 Dom Pedro II was declared of age and becomes king.
