Decided to become a priestly educator and was ordained a diocesan priest on December 19, 1840. First assignment as a teacher at the visitation school in Troyes, France, where Mother Mary de Sales Chappuis served as the superior for the Visitation Sisters. Later became the chaplain for the community

Mary de Sales Chappuis shared her vision of founding an order of priests and brothers who would live the spirituality of SFDS & SJDC (Oblates of SFDS). Father Brisson rejected, until he got a vision of Jesus telling him to found the Oblates. Oblates of SFDS was established on August 27, 1876. Father Brisson opened up a boarding school for young girls working in local textile factories.

Fr. Brisson died February 2, 1908. His last words were "Jesus my love - Mary - Joesph".
