  • Eiffel Tower Opens

    This tower was named after the engineer Gustave Eiffel. It is located in the Champ de Mars in Paris, France. It was initially erected as the entrance arch to the 1889 Worlds Fair. It is the most-visited paid monument in the world and the tower is the most prominent symbol of both Paris and France.
  • U.S. Holds Summer Olympics

    This Summer olympics took place in Atlanta, Georgia. Over 10,000 athletes competed in the games. These games cost the U.S. a net worth of $1.8 billion. The United States finished the games with the highest medal count out of any other country competing.
  • Attacks of Sept. 11, 2001

    A series of four suicide attacks that were commited on U.S. soil on September 11th, 2001. Al-queda were responsible for planning these attacks. The Twin Towers were destructed during the attacks and nearly 3000 lives were taken.
  • Italy wins the World Cup

    It was held from June 9th to July 9th 2006 in Germany, which won the right to host the event in July 2000. Teams representing 198 national football associations from all six populated continents participated in the qualification process which began in September 2003. Thirty-one teams qualified from this process, along with the host nation, Germany, for the finals tournament.
