    English novelist. The most famous novelist from the Victorian Age. His most famous novels are Oliver Twist, Nicholas Nickleby, The Old Curiosity Shop and A Christmas Carol. He died of a stroke in 1870 at the age of 58. Many of his novels are animated by a sense of social injustice. He was the first novelist to fully depict the gloom of urban decay and the consequences of the negative aspects of Victorian times.
