  • created a paradox that is now named after him

In 1901, he created the Russell Paradox, also known as Russell-Zermelo pardox, that is a set-theoretical or logical paradox. It arises within the naïve set theory by considering the set of all sets that not members of themselves. Such a set appears to be a member of itself if and only if it is not a member of itself, hence the paradox. His paradox has started a great work in set theory, philosophy, logic and in the foundations of mathematics. https://plato.stanford.edu/entries/russell-paradox/
