  • Benjamin Goes to Kindergarten

    Benjamin enrolls in kindergarten, which is easy for him, at the age of five. Pasting green paper on orange paper is an easy task for Benjamin. Falling asleep in class became a regular thing for Benjamin to do.

    Between Benjamin's 12th and 21st birthday Benjamin accomplished and failed many things. When Benjamin was 18 he was the equivelant to a fifty year old man.His father decided to send him to Yale. Benjamin passed the entry exams and he was accepted. Yet Benjamin was thrown out by the Registrator. " Get out! . . . Get out of college and get out of town. You are a dangerous lunatic, " the registrator yelled.
  • Benjamin goes to his first social meeting

    In August of 1880 Benjamin joins his father in going to a dance. Benjamin dresses in his best attire and drives out to the Shelvin's country house. At this party Benjamin meets Hildegarde Moncrief. "Dad, you might introduce me to her," (71) Benjamin tells his father when he spots Miss Moncrief.

    In the year 1890 Benjamin releases a proposal which said "all nails used in nailing up the boxes in which nails are shipped arethe property of the shippe . . . and saved . . . six hundrednails every year."(75)
  • Benjamin Joins the Spanish American War

    Benjamin's "home had for him so little charm that he decidedt join the army. . . He was made a major and finally a lieutenant-colonel just in time to participate in the celebrated chage up San Juan Hill." (75-76) This provided a more exciting experience as he became yonger.

    "He was an expert at "The Boston" (77) as benjamin grew younger and younger he had to find something to keep up with the fast pace life he wanted to live.

    "In 1908 he was considered proficient at the "Maxie." Again Benjamin occupies himself with with a fast pace hobbie
  • Benjamin hands the the company bown

    After "twenty-five years [he] . . . felt that he could soon hand it on to his son, Roscoe, who had recently graduated from Harvard." Benjamin finally gets the pressure of the company off his shoulders by handing it to his son.

  • Benjamin is rejected from the Army

    Benjamin recieves a letter from the goverment inviting him back to the military. Once he gets there though, a colonel greets him and sends him to headquaters. "two days later, however , his son Roscoe materializes from Baltimore . . . and escorted the weeping general . . . back to his home." (81)
  • Benjamin goes back to kindergarten

    Benjamin goes back to kindergarten with Roscoes little boy. ' Bnjamin found th at pkaying with little strips of colored paper, making mats, and chais and curious and beutiful designs, was the most fascinating game in the world." (82)

    Troughout this year and the years before benjamin begins to forget things. " He did not remember .
