  • Two Benedictine monks came to Atchison

    at the request of the Most Rev. John B. Miege, S.J., Vicar Apostolic of Leavenworth, two Benedictine monks arrived in Atchison with the intention of founding a Benedictine school of higher learning for the people of Kansas.

  • St. Benedict's College officially opened

    The monks opened a boarding school and enrolled six students.

  • Benedictine Sisters arrive in Atchison, KS

    Seven Benedictine sisters came to Atchison, KS to start a school for young girls

  • St. Scholastica's Academy for young women opened

  • Mount St. Scholastica Junior College opens

  • St. Benedict's became an accredited liberal arts college

  • Mount St. Scholastica becomes a 4-year college

    Mount St. Scholastica junior college becomes a senior college and hands out it's first bachelor's degrees

  • Mount St. Scholastica becomes a fully accredited college

  • Benedictine College is formed

    St. Benedict's College and Mount St. Scholastica college merge to form Benedictine College

  • Sr. Mary Noel Walter, OSB Ph.D. becomes first president of Benedictine

  • Fr Gerard Senecal becomes second president of Benedictine

  • Sr. Katherine Delaney becomes third president of Benedictine
