    Barney Hines was born on the 10th of the October in 1878 in Liverpool in England.
  • AIF Enrollment

    AIF Enrollment

    Barney Hines enrolled and was accepted into the AIF (Australian Imperial Force) at 28 years old and was attached to the "12th Reinforcements of the 13th Battalion" (12 REIN-13-BATTN) on the 24 of August, 1915.
  • Discharged from AIF

    Barney Hines was dischared from the AIF at Sydney due to being medically unfit, with the disability of Haemorrhoids on the 20th of January, 1916.
  • AIF Second Enrollment

    Three and a half months after Barney's discharge from the AIF, he enrolled into the AIF again and was accepted on the 5th of August, 1916.
  • Embarkment

    Barney Hines was embarked on the "Wiltshire" troopship from Sydney on the 22nd of August in 1916.
  • Disembarkment

    Barney Hines was disembarked from the ship he was travelling on at Plymouth in the United Kingdom on the 13th of October, 1916.
  • First Military Offence

    While Barney Hines was stationed at Bovington Camp, he committed an offence. He was absent without permissioned leave from midnight of the 31/10/16 until 5PM on the 1/11/16. As punishment, Hines recieved three days of CC (confined to camp) and forfeited one day worth of pay
  • Second Military Offence

    At Codford, Barney Hines once again absented himself without permissioned leave from his station from the 5/12/16 until he was apprehended.
  • Left 12th Training Battalion

    Barney Hines left the 12th Training Battalion to proceed overseas to France on the 3rd of March, 1917.
  • France Arrival

    On the 7th of March, 1917, Barney Hines arrived in Etaples in France.
  • Taken to Hospital

    Barney Hines was taken out from his station and transported to the Hospital to be treated for his sickness on the 18th of March,1917.
  • Joined the 45th Battalion

    On the 4th of April, 1917, Barney Hines joined the 45th Battalion.
  • Third Military Offence

    Barney Hines committed another offence on the 6th of September, 1917, by missing three parades without permission, them being at 9AM, 2PM & 8:30PM. Hines received a punishment of reduction of three days pay.
  • Fourth Military Offence

    Barney Hines committed his fourth offence on the 14th of November, 1917, for being absent from parades at 9AM & 12:30PM without permission. His punishment was 14 days of forfeited pay.
  • Fifth & Sitxth Military Offence

    Barney Hines committed another two offences on the 18th of April, 1918. The first offence being drunkenness, and the second being A.W.L (Away without leave) from the hours of 9:30AM until 11:45PM. He was then later trialled to forfeit 18 days pay.
  • Wounded in Action

    On the 3rd of May, 1918, Barney Hines was wounded in action.
