    Democritus 400 B.C
Democritus discovered that everything could be broken down to the smallest peice. Atoms are industructable with infinite numbers/kinds of atoms. He used the human senses to describe different types of atoms experiment. He also thought that the atom looked like an invisible object.

  • Dalton

    Dalton
In 1803, Dalton discovered how atoms reacted and recombined to form a new substance. He also discovered that they are building blocks, all matter is made of atoms, you can't break them apart, ll atoms of a given element are the same, and atoms aren't destroyed during chemical reactions. He found all of this through an experiment. His thought on what an atom looked like was called the Billiard Ball because he thought that they couldn't be divided into smaller peices.

  • Thomson

    Thomson
Thomson discovered electrons by an experiment that is called the Cathode Ray Tube. He thinks that the atom looks like a chocolate chip cookie (atoms are spheres and has a diffusee positive charge [cookie dough] with little negative electrons [chips] randomly showing.

  • Rutherford

    Rutherford
He thought that the atom had a nucleus and all the positive charged atoms were focused in the center of the atom. He discovered this by doing his Gold Foil experiment. He also thought that the electrons floated around the nucleus. His model is known as the Nuclear Model.

  • Bohr

    Bohr
He thought that the nucleus was also in the center of the atom, but the electrons moved aronud the nucleus on orbits. He discovered this by theories from observations; by observing Rutherford's model. His model was called the Bohr Model.

  • Heisenberg

    Heisenberg
He thought that the electrons of the atom buzzed around the nucleus in orbitals instead of the electrons just floating around the nucleus. Also that there were he nucleus.protons and neutrons in the discovered this by conducting experiments. He came up with the Quantum Mechanical Model.
